Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA)

CHIRLA is considered a coalition of various humanitarian firms and individuals. This is inclusive of lawyers, religious institutions, private donor firms and groups and philanthropic citizens with a humanitarian vision. Its original headquarters is located in Los Angeles.

They were also denied access to financial services like banking and loan borrowing. Through CHIRLA, various immigrant issues were addressed.

CHIRLA managed this through its vast human capital in various important fields. From public speakers to lawyers, they educated the immigrants on their rights and legal laws protecting them. CHIRLA main aim was to enhance understanding and peace between the immigrants and local natives.

They ensured the various parastatals and institutions mandated to ensure civil rights are accountable. They also provide an online hotline service. This can be used to report any occurrence of human right discrimination. Through its events like annual general meetings, it shares important information with immigrants and enlightens them on their rights.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

This involved unlawful arrest and torture in military camps. With the fight for civil rights, various individuals came together with a formed American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

ACLU is always on the front line in setting the best standards in ensuring civil rights are protected. This includes supporting various feminists in enhancing gender equality. They also focus on various discriminative laws that cause victimization.

Its support base is through numerous partnerships with lawyers, legal formulators, and volunteers. They ensure the constitution’s First Agenda that focuses on freedom of speech and choice is maintained to all citizens.

Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund

Focused on assisting the various Hispanic immigrant communities, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin converted their court compensation of a total of3.75 Million Dollars to a humanitarian fund. This is considered as one of the greatest act of philanthropy in Arizona.

The duos are the official owners of Phoenix New Times publishing’s. Through their humanitarian nature, they played a major role in exposing various illegal practices in the county of Maricopa. This was in the attempt to maintain the constitutional provisions of First Amendment.

Joe Arpaio was among the civil and immigrant rights violator in Arizona. He abused his position as a county sheriff. He instilled fear to various Mexican immigrants. He also sought any publishers that tried to expose his dirty works.

This included the duos who were journalists. Due to public demand, the duo was released. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin pressed charges against the county sheriff and managed to win. They converted the gaining’s to a humanitarian fund.

Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund is focused on assisting and humanitarian group in Arizona that advocates for both humanitarian and immigrants rights. This is with a specific focus on the US-Mexican border.
