Insights From the Mind of a Lacrosse Legend

One of America’s leading lacrosse legends, Jon Urbana maintains a personal blog, offering advice and wisdom on a number of subjects, including music, food, and ongoing current events.

On November 30, 2015, Jon posted a short audio clip in which news anchors discussed the controversial case of Jason Van Dyke, a Chicago police officer who was charged with the murder of Laquan McDonald. His Twitter page (jonurbana1) makes it clear that he always likes to keep abreast of current events, and offered the clip as an informative piece for his legions of devoted fans to further educate themselves about the case.

Also on November 30, 2015, Jon posted another audio clip, this one a re-post of a BBC radio program that discussed the basic plot outline of a film entitled Victor Frankenstein. The audio clip, also shared with his Soundcloud followers, also includes a discussion of homosexuality in literature, how literature can increase empathy in the reader, and the inspiration of A.A. Milne’s signature series Winnie the Pooh.

And with his increased level of outreach around the Earth Force fundraiser he’s been pushing through GoFundMe, many have come to learn about the good things Jon Urbana is doing in addition to the hard work he’s done for Ellipse USA and Next Level Lacrosse Camp.

Jon really enjoys gourmet food, which is why he posted a picture of roasted bonito fish on his blog on November 30, 2015. The dish is clearly the work of an accomplished chef but it is unclear whether or not Urbana prepared the presentation himself, or was simply photographing his meal at a restaurant. A number of other items, including slivered almonds and wilted spinach, are included on the plate but not described in Jon’s CrunchBase profile.

November 30, 2015, was a very busy for Jon, as he took time to post a photo of OMER brand beer, which he apparently enjoys. Judging from the copyright stamp on the photo, Jon took the opportunity of re-posting a publicity still from a well-known photographer’s website.

On Halloween, October 31, 2015, Jon posted a photograph of “homemade” autumn cake, featuring nuts and caramel. Again, Jon took the opportunity of taking a high-quality picture to share with his Facebook fans.

The founder of Next Level Lacrosse Camp in Colorado, one of the finest youth development facilities in the nation, Jon Urbana is also one of America’s greatest pilots. Founded in 2011 with Lou Braun, Next Level Lacrosse Camp works to help young players develop and strengthen the essential skills of the sport.
